Main scientific results by INP BSU staff in 2009 in the area of fundamental scientific research

  • The first experiment was carried out in CERN (Switzerland) on manipulation of high energy particle beams with crystals using effect of multiple volume reflection of high energy particles by bent surfaces of a single crystal (which was predicted in INP BSU). It was performed jointly with the group of University of Ferrara (Italy) supported by Italian Institute of Nuclear Physics (INFN).
  • It was shown that use of photonic crystals with variable parameters increases radiation intensity from Volume Free Electron Laser (VFEL). The experiments were carried out using VFEL with "grid" photonic crystal resonators in cylinder resonators.
  • The theory of scattering of electromagnetic radiation in the vicinity of finite-length carbon nanotube (CNT) was developed. For the first time this theory gives qualitative and quantitative interpretation of absorption peak in terahertz frequency range, which is observed in CNT composites. This effect can be applied in development of new electromagnetic shielding materials and new medical technologies.
  • The ability of white dwarfs to absorb 6D primordial black holes was justified. The process of absorption of latter by former afterwards was described and a new method to obtain the limitations of emerging of 6D gravity was developed based on this.
