Main scientific results by INP BSU staff in 2010 in the area of fundamental scientific research

  • It was shown that the effect of multiple volume reflection of high energy particles by bent surfaces of single crystal, which was predicted in theory by scientists of INP BSU and discovered in joint experiments with scientists of University of Ferrara (Italy), can be used for effective manipulation of particle beams at Large Hadron Collider (CERN, Switzerland) and other major accelerators.
  • It was shown that nanotubes with dielectric covering can be used in practice for thermolysis of cells in malignant tumours by heating them with microwave radiation. It was shown, that chemical doping of carbon nanotubes with boron and nitrogen leads to modification of their conductivity mode in terahertz and far infrared ranges.
